Ziiiiine!!!!

Hi all,

I hope you have all been enjoying your Easter Break, and recharging your batteries for the final hurdle before the finish line, so to speak. I'm sure you're excited that your exhibition Barking Dog is now in sight! To help you make the most of this valuable promotional event, you will be working as a team to design and publish a class 'zine. This independently published piece will include two of your best black and white illustrations, making 34 pages of design work from 17 students. We will be assisted in this project by Caroline, who will be returning from maternity leave to relieve Clare. Caroline has been designing the student handbooks for the past several years, and has lots of experience with this type of design and layout, so we are very fortunate that she has agreed to work this project in conjunction with us!

I will bring samples from previous years to show you on Monday, the 8th of April. All you need to bring on your first day back, are samples of your black and white illustrations, and your notebooks.  Artwork can be from either first or second year, from any class or project; typically work tends to be from Comics and Sequential Art and Representational Illustration, but does not necessarily need to be. Any black and white illustrations will do. Double check that your name is on each piece, and I'll help you make the final selections. Caroline will help you with layout, formatting, and printing, and we will assemble the print copies in my class. And before you ask, YES! I do have a long - arm stapler, for those of you who have an aversion to sewing!

NY Times: Zines Have a Resurgence Among the Web Savvy

Remember to keep on top of your work! Many of you have still not contributed to the Banksy debate - remember, this makes up part of your grade! I will accept no excuses! Check in on Moodle periodically, as I've some new links and instructions posted there. See you all next week!
